Prayer for Wisdom/Insight/Enlightenment/Understanding of His Word
The following sample prayer can also be used to shift your focus to God and the Word, away from any thought or disturbance vying for your attention:
Father, God, thank You that Your Word has ALL power and authority over my heart, my soul, my flesh. Father, my heart is open for You to reveal to me what You have to speak to my heart and soul as I read and meditate (marinate) slowly in Your Word.
Father, God, “I am praying always that” You “the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant” me “a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives” me “a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of” You “[for we know the Father through the Son]. And [I pray] that the eyes of” my “heart [the very center and core of” my “being] may be enlightened [flooded with light by the Holy Spirit], so that” I “will know and cherish the hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which” You have “called” me, “the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints (God’s people), and [so that” “will begin to know] what the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of “ Your “[active, spiritual] power is in us who believe.” (Ephesians 1: I7-19 Amplified).
Father, God, You have instructed us, to “… do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as” we “mature spiritually] by the renewing of” our “mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], …” (Romans 12:2a Amplified); therefore, in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, I give You permission, God, to transform my heart and mind in the process, with this, Your living and powerful Word.
Thank You, Father God for answering this prayer, for Your Word promises and assures us that when we “call upon” You, You “will answer” (Psalm 91:15). Thank You Father, God for Your faithfulness to respond, as my heart is open to receive from You.
I pray this all in the name of Your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen!
